Brother Sonny Le holds a barely legible, hand-written sign that reads: My name is Sonny, a member of ΑΔΦ and I pledge to end sexual violence by looking out for others and creating awareness of the issue.

Members of Alpha Delta Phi at the University of Minnesota lit up social media with a pledge to help end sexual violence. Today’s media is inundated with stories of victims who have endured sexual assault, and the Alpha Delts have responded with a public commitment to help lead efforts toward increased vigilance and sensitivity to crimes of a sexual nature, from harassment to assault. The active members took part in a Greek-wide photo project through the Minnesota Alpha Beta chapter of the Sigma Lambda Beta fraternity which brought the university’s sororities and fraternities together and encouraged smiles and documented promises to stand up against domestic/gender/sexual violence.

The safety of all those who find a home at the University of Minnesota in one way or another, be it student or faculty, has and will always be a top priority for our organization and we encourage others to become active in helping to spread awareness of the issue and do what they can to prevent these incidents through education and proactive choices.

The U of M offers resources through The Aurora Center on both Minneapolis and St. Paul campuses. The website reminds people that “The Aurora Center provides a safe and confidential space for students, faculty, staff, alumni, and family members or friends affiliated with the University of Minnesota, TC or Augsburg College who are victims/survivors/concerned people of sexual assault, relationship violence, or stalking.” Here, students can learn the steps of the Sexual Assault Response Protocol and how to report incidents of violence and harassment. A 24-hour helpline is also available for round-the-clock assistance as well.

Please take some time to visit their site to learn more about this resource so that you can help spread information to those who may need it.
