Officer Descriptions
Being a chairman at Alpha Delta Phi is a serious responsibility that requires time, effort, and imagination.
The Executive Board consists of 4 members that is made up of the President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.
The President is in charge of the day-to-day running of the house and runs our weekly meetings.
The Vice President oversees the chairmen and Alumni relations, while the Secretary is in charge of taking minutes during meeting and creating press releases.
Lastly, the Treasurer handles the house finances and helps make sure that each chairman has money to spend on their events.
Each chairman is responsible for planning and running a wide range of events that occur both on and off campus. At Alpha Delta Phi, we pride ourselves on the diversity of our brotherhood and try to reflect that philosophy in what we do. For example, our Philanthropy chairman organizes our annual fall semester Car Smash which has raised money to support cancer patients' families.
The Events chairman, in addition to organizing our semesterly Parents' Dinner, is in charge of the semester formals. The formals typically involve a social hour at the house followed by dinner at one of the Twin Cities' premier restaurants. As was the case last semester, the brothers finished their spring formal by going to see a comedy show at Acme Comedy Club.
The Social chairman is in charge of the house's social calendar, which includes social activities at the house, our Lady Phi sweetheart competition in the fall, and our exchanges with the sororities on campus. But these are just a handful of examples that showcase the much rich diversity at Alpha Delta Phi.
All of the brothers who hold these positions are elected during our Monday night meetings; Executive Board positions are held for a full year in contrast to the semester-long chairmen. Of course none of these events or responsibilities would be possible without the active brotherhood and brothers without chair positions still play an important role in every aspect of our events.
While becoming a chairman can be difficult at times, it is one of the most important and enjoyable aspects of being a member at Alpha Delta Phi. The experience gained from coordinating an event and working with a variety of people is priceless and helps prepare the undergraduates for life after college.
